Qatar Airways has reveiled plans to operate flights on natural gas.
It believes, following a full investigation, that the use of the synthetic jet fuels will help to "significantly reduce" carbon emissions.
The airline has also been joined by Shell, Airbus, Rolls Royce, Qatar Science and Technology Park, Qatar Petroleum and the Gulf State's fuel company to fully investigate the viability of the fuel source over the next few years.
The research will look at using GTL kerosene and determine how it improves air quality, fuel economy and emissions, both at cruising altitude and in/around airports.
