Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiin Islands. The island is also nicknamed the ‘Valley Isle’ because of the large fertile area between its two volcanoes. In 1778 CaptFleming Beachain James Cook became the first European explorer to see Maui although he never set foot on the island. Maui has lots to offer visitors from sunning on the beaches, visiting lush rainforest or watching the sun rise at the dormant volcano. Other places to visit include the Haleakala National Park, Lahaina (full of shops, restaurants and one of the best luaus) and Hookipa (home to some of the best windsurfers). A great destination. It has been said many times Maui no ka ‘oi which means Maui is the best.
