Aer Lingus has announced that it is cutting up to 1,500 jobs as part of a €74million cost cutting programme and all jobs will be lost by 1st November, 2008

Aer Lingus has announced an operating loss of almost GBP£18million (22.3 million euros) for the first half of this year. This is against an operating profit of 2.6 million euros for the same time last year. The airline blames soaring oil prices, with a fuel bill rise of 56.5 million euros for the first half of the year.

Aer Lingus has announced another fuel surcharge increase on a number of its long haul flights to the US. With immediate effect.
Flights to Chicago will rise by 17% to GBP£68 per sector
Flights to Orlando will rise by 10% to GBP£75 per sector
Flights to San Francisco and Los Angeles will rise by 9% to GBP£85 per sector

Aer Lingus has announced plans to add 3 new aircraft to it's short-haul fleet for 2008 and will now operate a total of 86 routes - 59 from Dublin, 18 from Cork and 9 from Belfast.
At the same time however it has announced plans to scrap it's Dublin to Dubai route due to poor sales.

Aer Lingus has announced that from November 1st 2007 they will increase the long-haul fuel surcharge to €50/£35 one way on their Ireland to New York, Boston and Washington flights; to €55/£40 one way on their Ireland to Chicago, Orlando and Dubai flights; and to €65/£45 one way on their Ireland to Los Angeles and San Francisco flights.

Aer Lingus and British Airways have announced a code sharing agreement between Belfast and Heathrow, meaning that customers connecting in Heathrow will now be able to check in their luggage at Belfast through to their final destination.
