Once an ancient family wine production factory, today renovated as an Eco-lodge Etnalodge in Mount Etna Nature Park at the foothills of Europe’s largest active volcano. It is an ideal resort for romantic tranquility, family vacation, cultural tourism and trekking in Mount Etna Nature Park.
Guests are hosted in the South Wing and North Wing Rooms. And enjoy solar heated sanitary water, wood heating in winter, and organic fruit all year!
It is close to Piedimonte Etneo, a rural village of Sicily not far from Taormina and the Mediterranean Sea. The view stretches from the coast of Calabria, to Taormina and to the seaport Riposto, and to Mount Etna. The beach is 8 km downhill.
The Palmento is in the deep rural country (sheep and all the rest) in the protected area of Mount Etna Nature Park, at the foothills of Europes largest active volcano. The view is just too much to be described: stretching from the coast of Calabria, to Taormina and to the seaport Riposto, and to Mount Etna.
It rises on top of a 3-acre fruit park with trees bearing organic fruit all year round ripening on the naturally fertilized volcanic soil.
Thanks to its unique geographical position between the Mediterranean Sea exposed foothills and the very often snow capped Mount Etna our surrounding is blessed by the best microclimate: sun, warmth and heat by day…up to top-less levels in winter (forget about Jan/Feb), fresh to cold by night even in summer from sunset to sunrise because of the inversion of the Mediterranean Sea breeze. The Palmento temperature is stable as a result of the thickness of the medieval stone walls and can be adjusted accordingly…by opening and closing the windows at the appropriate hours of the day. At mid season you can choose snow or sunbathing and swimming, or both, in the morning and afternoon.
