Description
Samyama is situated on the beach in a garden setting. The house is light and airy with doors and windows 11 feet high. Wake up to the sound of the waves and the early morning birds\' chorus.
One enters Samyama through tall majestic doors into a marble foyer where the afternoon sun streams through the magnificent stainless steel and glass dome above, your eyes are drawn to the mahogany staircase curving its way up. The sitting room with cool marble floor opens on to the veranda, you can watch the fisher men bringing in their catch at midday or luxuriate in the stunning sun sets.
Samyama offers you luxury, total seclusion and tranquillity. No hawkers on the beach, go for long walks, just meditating on nature. Our beach is wild and exhilarating, filling you with energy, and excitement. There is an array of wild life, so if you are keen on birds, pack your binoculars. Negombo is on the western side of Sri Lanka, with an enormous natural reef protecting the coast line. This reef saved the area from the disastrous Tsunami in 2004.
Negombo is only 15 km from Sri Lanka\'s International Airport. Negombo Beach was Sri Lanka\'s first beach resort and is an ideal place for your holiday: It offers wide beaches, many water sport facilities,(water ski-ing, wind surfing, kite surfing,) deep sea fishing; excellent restaurants, well stocked supermarkets. Negombo is known for its many gifted and artistic jewellers. Good quality jewellery is much cheaper here especially if you are into gem stones. Gold is 18-22 carat. In Colombo many western designers collection is manufactured here and the factory excess is more than 5 times cheaper than London, Paris or Milan.
Samyama offers 3-7 day tours (religious/historical) of Sri Lanka. For all tours please discuss with our Guide Lal. He is extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy and honest. He speaks fluent English. Samyama also offers Yoga, meditation, and Ayurvedic massage.
Further details outdoors:
All Samyamas vegetables are organically grown in its own garden. Eggs and chicken are free range bought from neighbours, Hot water is provided via solar panels and it is envisaged in the near future to change the swimming pool to a chemical free ozone type pool.

Guestbook Text
1. What a beautiful place! To sit and meditate and hear the sound of the crashing waves was magical. It was a great experience, I learnt a lot, including getting my tongue round Sanskrit chanting. I intend to build new samskaras when I leave here.
Thank you
Linzi, London UK
2. Knowing how much work goes on behind the scenes to present any holiday and yoga experience. I think a massive thank you. To practice, meditate, in quiet shady areas, and on the beach, and Oh ! those sunsets.
Thank you Cecily- It was a great to be a student and really turn off for 5 days, great yoga. I have always loved the Sutras, and drew much from your interpretations of them.
I would love to bring a group out here, and I am sure when they see my relaxed smile,
at home they will all want to come, especially when I tell them about Nimali’s
cooking.
Om Shanti – Jill Cook London
3. What a wonderful setting for a retreat. It is certainly everything that Cecily promised
and more. Yoga practice on the veranda with the sound of the sea in the background
was magical. I never actually thought I would be chanting the sutras in Sanskrit
(although I still need to iron out a few pronunciations!!) by the end.
Nimali was always smiling and her cooking absolutely delicious.
Thank you Cecily for every thing. I am going home re-energised.
Debbie London UK
4. I came on the retreat to re energise and kick start my yoga practice. It lived up to all that Cecily had promised. To meditate on the beach at sunset is a memory that will stay with me forever. A truly wonderful experience beyond all my expectations.

5. Samyama has been a wonderful place to recover- plus the yoga an extra I was not quite expecting. The trip you organised was outstanding and the first millennium culture is extra ordinary and mind blowing.
Thanks for sharing so much and also the staff team being so great, helpful and kind.
