British government urged to develop music tourism strategy

A cross party group of influential peers has called at the British government develop a brand new method to support music-based tourism and help grow the united kingdom economy. The call was made during a home of Lords debate at the impact of music on tourism. The debate’s sponsor, Liberal Democrat Lord Storey said music festivals were attracting unprecedented numbers of overseas visitors and feature been pouring money into local economies.  He argued that the world’s “evident love” of the UK’s musical heritage should now be harnessed and used to support music tourism. UNWTO partners with top Spanish engineering company for pilot projects

Research, best practices and new methodologies for tourism development are on the centre of an agreement signed between UNWTO and Spanish public company ISDEFE (Ingeniería de Sistemas para la Defensa de España). This agreement aims at developing pilot projects in line with more than a few subjects including connectivity, energy in tourism, among others. UNWTO will draw at the expertise of Isdefe in providing engineering services to the Spanish Administration and international public bodies. “We share a typical view with Isdefe and this agreement will contribute to advance new concepts for tourism development in an effort to be positioned within the global tourism agenda”, said UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai, in signing the agreement.
