  • Liberty Island to reopen on Usa Independence Day

    Officials on the Usa National Park Service has confirmed Liberty Island, damaged by Hurricane Sandy, will reopen on July 4th.

    Ellis Island, also damaged inside the storm, requires more extensive repairs and remains closed.

    There isn’t any reopening date at the moment.

    Advance reservations are required for access to the Statue of Liberty’s crown.

    Tickets are for a particular date and time should be picked up on the ferry departure point in Battery Park in Manhattan.

    The National Park Service is anticipating a hectic July 4th weekend, in accordance with advance sales.

    Visitors are encouraged to book beforehand.

  • Nine tourists killed in northern Pakistan

    Nine tourists was killed in a hotel in northern Pakistan during an assault wherein gunmen are reported to have killed ten people.

    The floods have caused chaos, destroying roads and bridges and removing electricity while hundreds of houses were submerged.

  • Earthquake strikes northern Italy

    At least one person was injured and dozens have needed to flee their homes following a 5.2-magnitude earthquake in north-central Italy.

    The earthquake, which occurred at 12: 33 a.m. local time on Friday in Tuscany, was followed by a sequence of nearly aftershocks including a 4-magnitude one.

    Several buildings have partially collapsed and one person is reported to was injured, in keeping with reports.

    The tremors were felt in nearby regions including Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, Liguria and Emilia Romagna.
